The Association ROOTS
The ROOTS Association is basically run by three people – my two best friends Knud Wassermann and Miguel Henz. These guys enable me (Jürgen Schneider) to keep things going and to look after things. This allows us to place the common good more at the centre of our endeavours without having to set up a company and without having to run it strictly commercially.
ROOTS
The name of the organization is: “Verein zur Erforschung und Vermittlung des menschlichen Seins” (directly translated: “Organsisation for Investigation and Dissemination of Being Human”), registered at the “Central Register of Associations” (ZVR 092466100) at the address: Leopldgasse 7 – A-3424 Zeiselmauer, Austria.
Paragraph 2 of the Statutes of the Association: The Purpose of the association:
The ROOTS Association, a non-profit organization, aims to explore and convey elements of our human roots; our origins, our characteristics and basic needs – the fundamentals of which “being human” really means in practical, theoretical and spiritual terms. Enough of the Statutes….
Key, elemental human activities such as making fires, cooking on an open fire, hunting and gathering or going on a hike – we all know the fascination of these and similar experiences when we light a candle, collect mushrooms or make a pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela. The primary endeavour of ROOTS is to pursue these activities and in so doing, to free them from the veneer and gloss of the modern age and expose their core meaning – true human traits – that which is at the core of humankind.
