Kids Holidays Camp – Offline

The ROOTS Camp in the Bucklige Welt is something important. We’re totally off-line! We learn to live without clocks, without smartphones, without electricity and without mirrors!

Jürgen Schneider runs the camp. We usually are a total of 10-12 “companions” and around 20 to 25 children – that is the clan for a week. A clan with clear rules and values. Together we carve magic wands, cook around the campfire, tie friendship bracelets or wander around in the forest and live the day.

If you want to do whatever comes to mind, you’ve come to the right place. The limits to this are the well-being and safety of all of us. The children playfully come into direct contact with nature, walk barefoot, and are in the here-and-now.

And the parents can relax too:

In the holiday camp, the children are well looked after from Monday morning to Friday evening. The camp is surrounded by greenery on an organic farm – and yet only an hour from Vienna or one and a half hours from Graz.

Clear basic rules and good teamwork ensure the safety of the children, enough tarps and straw ensure comfort while Jürgen and his team see to a fun atmosphere and good food!

The children are allowed to be dirty here, they’re allowed to make fires under supervision, they’re allowed to sleep either in tepees or under tarps, they’re allowed to walk in the woods and help with the cooking. Yes, they’re even allowed to have their own bush knife for carving and they’re naturally allowed to just do nothing. Nature will teach them at first-hand how to experience the elements fire, water, earth and air.

In the absence of modern “achievements, by leaving out the measurement of time and by leaving out entertainment, the children naturally encounter one-another and whatever else is there. And there is a lot out there. A lot of wonderful things.

The Schedule

The participants arrive on a Monday between 9am and 11am. In this way, parents can plan their days better and have less stress. We then discuss the most important things and agree on the terms of the week.

Payment occurs at this meeting at the Camp on this day. The children can be collected on Friday around 3pm. Please make sure you allow for a bit of extra time so that the children can “let go” and say goodbye to their companions.
