Leadership

It’s all about map reading, carefully following sings and markers along the way. It’s all about estimating the level of difficulty and the distances to be covered. It’s all about finding water, provisions. In the end it’s all about finding a suitable place for camp.

Wood and Fire

First and foremost is the necessity to find and gather suitable wood for fire and water for cooking. A hearth is not just any old fire it is a pre-historic stove. Three stones or large, round logs around the hearth and an armful of branches is all we need for a small, safe and effective fire for cooking.

Cuisine

A good overview, delegation, preparation and distribution of provisions. Clarity about the budget and provisioning. Fun combined with skill in preparation. “One cannot think well, love well or sleep well if one has not dined well” Virginia Wolf.

Well-Being

It is the healers and storytellers who stick plasters on wounds and give comfort, who motivate and who sing songs. They keep an eye on the weak and are ready in an emergency.

Camp

In choosing a suitable place for the night, we make sure it is suitable for setting up a good hearth, preparing food and the well-being of all involved. Finding a dry place to sleep is a top priority. In teams of 3 to 4 tarps are set up and sleeping places are prepared.

Documentation

This is done in writing and with a camera. Story writers are responsible for recording events, resulting in useful documentation of what we do. Such documentation is our interface to the modern every-day world of digital communication; web sites, presentations, folders, FaceBook, etc

Reflection

We keep diaries. This allows us to reflect – summarizing and ordering our thoughts and experiences.

Zu unserer Haltung

Bei dieser Aufgabenverteilung ist zu beachten, dass es um Verantwortungsbereiche geht. Niemand ist des anderen Diener und alle befinden sich in einem Modus des “Hilfreich-sein-wollens”.

Wer also gerade nichts zu tun hat, steht den anderen gerne zur Verfügung. Die Küchenleute zB sind nicht für ein zeitgerechtes Service des Abendessens zuständig, auf das die Anderen mit den Löffeln in die Schüsseln klopfend warten.

Wer für seine Aufgabe Rat und Hilfe braucht, wendet sich an jene, die gerade nicht mit ihrer Aufgabe beschäftigt sind.

Ich trage Sorge für Feuerholz heißt – ich organisiere, dass welches gesammelt wird und ich habe mich kundig gemacht, welches Holz geeignet ist, bzw. wie eine Küchenfeuerstelle effizient funktioniert.

Es gibt auch keine Aufgaben, die wichtiger sind als andere. Aus der Aufgabe folgt kein Status und keine Hirarchie.

Schließlich, wenn ich merken sollte, dass der Job nicht gut zu mir passt, so kann er in Absprache mit dem Team auch wieder zurückgegeben werden, bzw. getauscht werden.
